Revision: Music video

Explain how mise en scene has been used in your two music videos to show the genre and represent the band/artist.

Little mix- Black Magic

Location- school
Costumes- geeky clothes to fashionable
Hair- all up at the start then down at the end
Makeup- None at start then at end subtle makeup
Props- Magic book
These all show the genre pop as they're quite basic modern elements of a video, they also represent the artists as quite young fashionable and fun. What they all wear shows all the genres of high school. Also as it has a narrative to it,

The Vamps- Somebody to you
Location- beach/swimming pool
Props- Instruments, Tennis, Volleyball, pool floats
Costume- swimsuits, shorts, top
Makeup- subtle
Hair- (Girls) Curled, straight or up
These represent the genre pop as they use electronic instruments in the performance part of the video, they also have a beach party which creates a theme of pop and fun.

Explain how camerawork and editing has been used in your two music videos to show genre and represent the band/artist

Little mix: Camerawork- Straight cut from one scene to another- natural editing except the magic feature of CGI. Close ups to show facial expressions. Far away shots to show whole group of girls and their outfits which represents the genre pop and the band.

The Vamps: Camerawork- Fast paced editing and cross cutting- natural editing. Far away performance shots to show the genre pop. More close up shots to show the narrative of the video to show their facial expressions which is a pop genre convention.
